Privacy policy
Effective 11 October 2026
Honor Bar is a service of Idea Pop LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“Idea Pop”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we handle on honorbar.app and when hotel guests use Honor Bar to charge items to their room, and what we do with it. Questions: hello@honorbar.app.
The short version
- We don’t sell, rent or share personal information for advertising or marketing.
- We don’t store guests’ names, email addresses or phone numbers. We read them from the hotel’s system only when we need to send a code.
- We don’t handle payment cards. Charges go on the guest’s hotel bill.
- Our website uses no tracking or advertising cookies.
Our role for hotel guests
When you use Honor Bar at a hotel, we act for that hotel. The hotel decides what goes on your bill and how your stay information is used, under its own privacy policy. We use your information only to run Honor Bar for the hotel.
Information we handle when guests use Honor Bar
- Room number and last name. You enter these to show you’re staying in the room. We check them against the hotel’s property management system (PMS). We don’t store your last name.
- Contact details. To send you a one-time code, we read your email address (or, later, your mobile number) from the hotel’s PMS and send the code. We don’t store your contact details.
- One-time codes. We keep codes only in scrambled (hashed) form and delete them once used or after 10 minutes.
- Internet (IP) address. To stop abuse, we keep it only in scrambled form, to count attempts, and delete it after one hour.
- Charge records. For each charge we record what was charged (the hotel’s item references, quantities and amounts), the reservation and room, a random ID for your phone, and the time, and we post the charge to the hotel’s PMS.
- Two cookies on your phone. These are needed for the service to work, not for tracking: a random phone ID that lasts 30 days, and a signed “verified” cookie that names the hotel, reservation and room and expires 7 days after your stay ends. We check with the hotel’s PMS on every charge, so it stops working at checkout.
Information we collect on honorbar.app
- Visits. We count visits, pages viewed, referring sites and countries with privacy-friendly analytics that set no cookies and don’t follow you across other sites.
- Bot check. Our waitlist form uses a bot-check service that looks at information about your browser and connection to tell people from automated programs.
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we keep your work email, hotel name, property management system, the consent wording you agreed to, which version of our terms you agreed to, and when you signed up.
How we use information
- To run Honor Bar for hotels: confirm guests, post charges and show receipts.
- To keep the service secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To contact waitlist sign-ups about Honor Bar, as they asked.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Who we share it with
- The hotel you’re staying with, to post charges to your bill.
- Service providers that run parts of Honor Bar for us, such as hosting, security, email and text messaging, under contract and only for that purpose.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect people, property or the service.
- A buyer or successor, if Idea Pop’s business is sold or reorganized. This policy will keep applying to your information.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share mobile phone numbers or text-message opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
How long we keep it
- One-time codes: until used, at most 10 minutes.
- Scrambled IP addresses: one hour.
- Phone cookies: 30 days (phone ID), and 7 days after your stay ends (verified cookie).
- Charge records: no more than 12 months, then we delete them or remove anything that links them to a guest. Your bill itself is kept by the hotel in its own system. We may keep combined, anonymous figures (such as totals by hotel and item) that can’t be linked to any guest.
- Waitlist entries: until you ask us to remove you, or we stop the waitlist.
Your choices
- Waitlist: unsubscribe from any email we send, or ask us at hello@honorbar.app to delete your entry.
- Guests: your stay information belongs to the hotel. Ask the hotel first; we’ll help it answer requests to see or delete information we hold for it.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to see, correct or delete your information. Email hello@honorbar.app. We may need to confirm who you are first.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, scrambled storage where we can, limited access and two-factor sign-in on our accounts. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Children
honorbar.app and the waitlist are for businesses. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. We’ll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we’ll take reasonable steps to let you know.
